The State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of Fire Safety, has a part-time vacancy for a NERIS Program Coordinator (Program Assistant III), SOC Title 43-6010 ADMIN ASSTS-4. This position is part-time, cannot exceed 29.5 hours per week and does not offer health insurance benefits.

Summary:

Plans and coordinates the National Emergency Response Information System program for the State of New Hampshire. Assists in gathering emergency response data and prepares reports for presentation for the Division Director.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/

Experience:

Equivalent combination of 3 years of education and experience after completion of high school.

License/Certification:
None required.

Other Requirements:
Must pass a fingerprint based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information.

Trainee Option:
Candidates with an equivalent combination of 2+ years of relevant education and experience after completion of high school may be considered and hired in ‘trainee status’ for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in planning, developing, coordinating, implementing and overseeing the National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) program for the State of New Hampshire.
  • Develops and distributes quarterly statistical reports on emergency response.
  • Develops and distributes annual statistical report to local fire departments.
  • Provides emergency response statistical data in support of legislative initiatives and requests.
  • Assists the Community Risk Reduction Program Manager by gathering relevant emergency response data and developing graphs, charts, and reports that identify areas of greater risk to assist the Division’s public education efforts.
  • Gathers information and prepares comprehensive reports regarding fire losses and fire deaths; gathers NERIS data and prepares yearly report for fire safe cigarette law to the legislature.
  • Collaborates with external partners to include the US Fire Administration, UL Fire Safety Research Institute, and local fire departments to ensure quality emergency response data reporting.
  • Designs and modifies agency bulletins, forms and instructions for staff use.
