The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, and New Hampshire Hospital has a Full-Time Vacancy for a Psychiatric Social Worker.
Summary:
Provides clinical social work services in an acute inpatient psychiatric setting. Delivers therapeutic interventions to patients, families, guardians, and significant others, including individual and group psychotherapy, psychoeducation, support services, advocacy, and discharge planning. Applies strong clinical social work skills, including diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention, as well as comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric disorders, crisis management, and the community-based mental health system in New Hampshire.

Education/
Experience:
Bachelor's degree and 1.5 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 5.5 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must include at least 30 credits of graduate-level study in social work with 450+ field hours of clinical experience.
License/Certification: Valid driver's license

Responsibilities:
- Conducts comprehensive and sensitive psychosocial assessments, gathering information from patients, families and other supports, service providers, schools, legal professionals, guardians, and existing clinical records. Uses detailed evaluations to inform inpatient treatment planning and aftercare recommendations.
- Develops individualized treatment goals and therapeutic interventions based on in-depth psychosocial assessments. Collaborates closely with interdisciplinary team members and assumes primary responsibility for ensuring ongoing discharge planning discussions including residential and community-based care needs occur throughout the patient's course of care.
- Provides individual, group, and family therapy, utilizing a broad range of established, evidence-based therapeutic techniques. Delivers services aligned with the needs of assigned patients and broader programmatic demands. Applies knowledge of National Association of Social Workers (NASW) code of ethics, psychiatric diagnoses (DSM-5-TR), trauma-informed care, and systems theory in all clinical interventions.
- Applies interventions grounded in current research and tailored to the developmental, cultural, and functional needs of each patient. Monitors and documents the effectiveness of interventions in the clinical record in accordance with professional, departmental, and hospital standards.
