Job Summary

A major regional medical center in New Hampshire's capital, is seeking a high-performing Progressive Care RN for their 3 East/PCU unit. This role is designed for a nurse who excels in the "middle ground" of acuity—managing patients who are too stable for the ICU but require more frequent monitoring and intervention than a standard Med/Surg floor. You will care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, and neurological complexities, requiring sharp assessment skills and rapid intervention capabilities.

Key

Responsibilities
  • High-Acuity Monitoring: Manage patients requiring continuous telemetry, pulse oximetry, and frequent vital sign assessments.
  • Vasoactive Drips: Titrate and monitor stable infusions (such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, or Heparin) per facility protocol.
  • Respiratory Support: Care for patients on BiPAP/CPAP or high-flow nasal cannula, monitoring for signs of respiratory distress.
  • Post-Procedural Recovery: Manage patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, stent placement, or other invasive vascular procedures.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with hospitalists and intensivists to coordinate care plans and facilitate transitions to lower levels of care.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of PCU/Stepdown experience. Proven travel experience must be documented on your resume.
  • Licensure: Active New Hampshire (NH) or Compact RN License is required at the time of submission.
  • Certifications: * BLS (AHA) – Required.
    • ACLS (AHA) – Required.
  • Documentation:

Experience with Cerner EMR is preferred but not required.
  • Floating: Must be willing to float to sister facilities in Laconia or Franklin, NH, if requested.
Unit & Facility Details
  • Department: 3 East / PCU (614000).
  • Location: 250 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301.
  • On-Call: No on-call requirement.
  • Local Candidates: Accepted within 50 miles at a specific local rate.
Clinical Spotlight:
The PCU Advantage

On 3 East, you are the early warning system. Because PCU patients can decompensate quickly, your ability to interpret subtle changes in EKG rhythms or oxygen requirements is vital. You bridge the gap between intensive care and recovery, often serving as the primary educator for patients preparing to move toward discharge.
