Position: Courier | Part Time | 20hrs

Summary

The Courier reports to the Courier Manager and is responsible for providing efficient, safe and courteous service for Concord Hospital, Capital Region Health Care and affiliated clients. Working in conjunction with Receiving/Distribution, General Stores, Purchasing, mail and Copy Services, the Courier Department adheres to strict schedules to ensure timely pick up, delivery and transfer of products, specimens, correspondence and stat request service to all customers.

They are also responsible for the movement of equipment and furniture between the hospital, Concord Center warehouse and affiliates as well as organized management of said warehouse.

Education

High school or equivalent (GED).

Certification, Registration & Licensure

Licensure required:
Valid New Hampshire Driver's license. Certified copy of DMV driving record that qualifies standards set by Human Resources and MVR Rating Guidelines. If personal vehicle is to be used for official business, employee must provide proof of insurance coverage which complies with organization and Concord Hospital Driving Policy.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain schedule and route.
  • Transport mail, reports, cash bags, films, specimens, linens, biohazard waste, supplies, equipment, furniture and other items to and from various locations according to department standards and obtain documentation and/or signatures accordingly.
  • Cross‑train on all Courier routes to stay proficient on each for coverage as necessary.
  • Work towards achieving department goals.
  • Meet customer needs and solicit customer feedback to improve service and relay ideas to supervisor.
  • Adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands.
  • Follow policies and procedures for safe and proper use of vehicles, moving equipment and tools.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and process work effectively and efficiently.
  • Demonstrate competency performing role, utilizing available references, tools, mobile delivery system, and equipment, to ensure quality results while following department policies and procedures.
  • Conduct daily inspection of vehicle at start of each day, operate hospital vehicles in a safe manner at all times, maintain the inside of vehicle and report any damage or mechanical problems to the courier manager.
  • Support all efforts related to DNV/ISO Certification on nonconforming product.

The employee is occasionally exposed to blood‑borne pathogens, bodily fluids, airborne contaminants, airborne pathogens, electrical hazards, moving mechanical parts, vibration, non‑weather‑related heat or cold, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
