Job SummaryAs the Sorter, you will be responsible for sorting and separating construction recyclable and non-recyclable materials by hand, picking itemsfrom conveyors, floors, and compacted bales. You will reportto the Operations Manager andbe directed by the shift-working foreperson. Your main duties will include maintaining a clean workarea, complying with company policies, and ensuring that local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations are followed.
Job Responsibilities- Pick and pull items off conveyors, floors, and compacted bales.
- Maintain a clean workstation and surrounding areas as neededand directed.
- Conduct work duties in compliance with all applicable company policies, local, state, and federal safety, and environmental regulations.
- Direct traffic and perform load checks as directed.
- Experience working in a production workplace environment is preferred
- Experience working in a collection or post-collection workplace environment is a plus
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work overtime as scheduled
- Must be flexible to work any shift as scheduled
- Must be able to work in all seasonal weather conditions
- Potential for slips, trips, and falls. Potential hazards from lifting and falling materials. Possibility of strains and dizziness.
- Risks of being caught between objects, cutting, crushing, abrasions, lacerations, and punctures.
- Potential for exposure to hazardous household chemicals and liquid spills.
- Forklift, truck, and heavy equipment movement in the work area.
- Exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Standing for extended periods and performing physically demanding tasks.
