Hendrick Motorsports , a leader in the auto racing industry, is currently seeking a Cylinder Head Engine Tech.
Summary:Under the general direction of the Cylinder Head Shop Manager, the Cylinder Head Technician is responsible for teardown and cleanup of cylinder heads and components post-race.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:- Teardown, inspect and cleanup cylinder heads and components post-race
- Measure valve seat wear and valve guide clearance
- Data entry
- Open work orders
- Install & hone valve guides
- Mill cylinder heads to correct chamber volume
- Inspect & rate valve springs
- Any other duties assigned by manager
- Accountability – ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
- Detail-Oriented – ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
- Organized – possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task.
- Responsible – ability to be help accountable or answerable for one’s conduct.
- Safety Awareness – ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
- Technical Aptitude – ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
- Time Management – ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
- Coordination – adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.
- Repairing – repairing items using needed tools and equipment.
Experience:
- Ideally have experience with building race engines.
- Requires working knowledge of basic mechanical skills and competencies.
- Must possess a sound understanding of internal combustion engines.
Skills:
- Requires basic computer skills.
Skills:
- Must possess strong communication skills and an excellent sense of customer satisfaction, communicating with other departments, and perform work as timely and precisely as possible.
- Requires vision (near, distance, depth) and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety glasses. Constantly manually manipulates. Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches outward, lifts/carries up to 50 pounds, and pushes/pull up to 40 pounds. Occasionally reaches above shoulder, climbs, crawls, squats or kneels, bends, lifts/carries over 100 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 100 pounds.
