3–5 years nursing experience, Critical care experience
Reporting to the IR Section Leader, the Radiology Staff Nurse provides quality nursing care to inpatients and outpatients in the Radiology Department, including pediatric, adult, elderly, acutely and chronically ill patients. The nurse must be prepared to respond to emergencies during radiologic procedures and ensure patient privacy, dignity, and safety.
Responsibilities- Provide patient care utilizing the nursing process
- Prioritize patient needs and function as patient advocate
- Assess and monitor patient condition, including vital signs and EKG changes
- Recognize and assist in treatment of contrast reactions
- Intervene in emergency situations
- Assist radiologists with special procedures requiring nursing skills
- Administer and monitor conscious sedation
- Administer medications as appropriate
- Provide continuity of care for critically ill patients
- Operate specialty equipment (monitors, infusion pumps, O2 equipment, ventilators)
- Document patient status and interventions
- Follow patient identification protocols
- Provide patient and family education
- Strong clinical nursing knowledge
- Ability to work independently
- Proficient in physical assessment, aseptic technique, IV skills, universal precautions
- Computer skills required
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
