Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for ambulatory surgical and pain management patients, from simple to complex, with multi‑system issues, in a safe and therapeutic environment. The RN applies knowledge of life‑span development, interprets patient data, and engages in caring relationships with patients, families, and significant others, while collaborating with other health‑care workers and using sound judgment for medical interventions.
Responsibilities- Delivers care to patients effectively and safely in accordance with facility policy.
- Teaches patients and/or significant others about their plan of care.
- Prepares patients and/or significant others to manage their care after discharge.
- Manages care of simple to complex multi‑system patients by using time and resources efficiently.
- Administers medications safely and effectively.
- Gathers data through history taking and physical assessment, interpreting information to plan and implement interventions.
- Develops, evaluates, and revises patient’s plan of care in response to needs.
- Bases nursing actions on purposeful, organized thinking and sound clinical judgment.
- Participates and engages in center activities.
- Documents care provided and patient progress toward desired outcomes.
- Directs and supervises others (nursing students, orientees, surgical technologists) in delegated nursing activities.
- Leads the health‑care team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The Surgery Center is open Monday through Friday. No nights, weekends, holidays, or on‑call duty. Four 10‑hour shifts with staggered start times.
Qualifications- Education:
Associate’s Degree (AD) or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing. - Certification and licensure:
BCLS and ACLS certification within 3 months of hire
; current New Hampshire State Registered Nurse license. - Previous operating room experience required.
The job requires regularly lifting, carrying, or pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds; frequently lifting up to 10–25 pounds; and occasionally lifting up to 20–50 pounds. The employee must hear, speak, bend, walk, climb, use fine motor skills, kneel, reach, sit, squat, and stand. Vision required includes color, depth, far, near, and peripheral. The employee is frequently exposed to airborne and blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, airborne contaminants, electrical hazards, moving mechanical parts, non‑weather related heat or cold, radiation, slippery surfaces, toxic or caustic chemicals, and variable weather conditions.
Noise level is usually moderate.
