SummaryThis full‑time nurse will work in the Medical Suite at New Hampshire Hospital, serving all patients and staff while supporting infection prevention practices.
Scope of WorkUnder the supervision of the Infection Prevention Nursing Coordinator, the RN assists in monitoring infection‑prevention practices, provides guidance and consultation to nursing staff, and collaborates inter‑ and intra‑departmentally to ensure continuity of patient care and consistent management practices.
Experience & Education- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, human services, psychology, or a related field. One year of RN experience in a residential, nursing home, long‑term care or similar setting.
- OR — Associate’s degree in nursing, human services, psychology, or a related field, plus two years of RN experience in a similar setting.
- Each additional year of approved formal education may substitute for one year of required work experience, and vice versa.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire.
- Current CPR certification.
- Certification by the American Nurses Association (or an affiliated organization) in psychiatric and mental health nursing, gerontological nursing, wound care, or a specialty related to long‑term nursing care.
Must be able to work different shifts to monitor or assist with infection‑control outbreaks.
Responsibilities- Maintain a therapeutic and caring environment and monitor staff adherence to hospital policies and nursing standards.
- Monitor, collect, and report patient‑related data for infection prevention, contribute to nursing assessment and plan of care.
- Provide staff training and expert consultation on infection‑prevention practices; collect data on immunization status, TB screening, flu shots, and Hepatitis B series.
- Schedule, track, record, and disseminate information regarding patients’ external medical appointments and results.
- Assist with patient teaching related to medications, treatments, and health‑care needs and pursue continuous professional development.
- Participate in unit‑based and hospital‑wide nursing research activities; review medication costs and assist with pre‑authorization when needed.
- Act as a liaison with community, family, and staff, promoting evidence‑based nursing practices and serving as a role model for less experienced staff.
- Maintain competency in crisis management and CPR techniques (adults, children, infants, AED).
- Conduct periodic safety reviews, provide on‑spot training, and record safety initiatives for annual reporting.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and support department mission, philosophy, and goals.
