SummaryUnder the supervision of the Chief Innovation Officer within the area of Staff Engagement & Professional Development, facilitates clinical skills, required on the job learning and professional development activities that support all clinical and non-clinical New Hampshire Hospital staff. Develops and leads the hospital’s learning, training, and development strategy to enhance staff competencies, patient care outcomes, and organizational effectiveness. Plays a key role in fostering a culture of continuous learning and supporting clinical excellence and regulatory compliance.
YOUREXPERIENCE COUNTS
Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in nursing, human services, psychology, or a related field.
Experience: One year of experience as a registered nurse in a setting similar or equivalent to the position assigned.
OR
Education: Graduation from a recognized nursing program and possession of an Associate’s degree in nursing, human services, psychology, or a related field.
Experience: Two years of experience as a registered nurse in a setting similar or equivalent to the position assigned.
And
License/Certification- 1. Current license as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire.
- 2. Current Certification in CPR.
- 3. Must be certified by the American Nurses Association or an organization recognized by the ANA in any specialty area (e.g. Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse, Gerontological Nurse, Maternal and Child Health Nurse, Oncology, Wound Care, etc.).
Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist: Graduate degree in nursing or a related field and certified in NPD (either NPD-BC or NPDA-BC).
After-Hire RequirementsParticipation in hospital-approved Crisis Management Program within 6 months of hire and current certification maintained throughout employment.
Responsibilities- Maintains 24-hour accountability, responsibility, supervision and authority for Professional Development department staff, activities and initiatives.
- Develops and maintains onboarding/orientation programs to provide for initial competencies that align with policies and procedures. Incorporates topics required by regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Develops, reviews and records all competencies in collaboration with department-specific staff. Evaluates competency program, ensures criteria meets compliance, quality and regulatory needs.
- Serves as a role model for change and supports key initiatives to promote evidence-based practices and conducts research/scholarly inquiry to achieve organizational outcomes.
- Identifies educational needs of the organization and advocates for the necessary programs to fill practice gaps. Conducts practice gap analysis and learning needs assessments, develops, implements and evaluates educational programing, and coordinates continuing education programming in adherence with accreditation requirements. Demonstrates program innovation and utilizes technology to deliver educational programming as applicable.
- Maintains collaborative partnerships with internal departments and external stakeholders to support professional development initiatives and the hospital mission. Participates in interprofessional committees and education. Facilitates clinical/academic partnerships.
- Provides support, coaching and role modeling both in the classroom and work areas to all staff related to role development and transition, patient care, conflict management and professional behavior/expectations.
