Description:
Supports and promotes the mission and values of the organization. Renders professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit, in support of medical care as directed by medical staff and according to objectives and policies of the facility. Completes all unit-specific competencies and requirements required to care for critically ill patients. Participates in quality improvement planning and processes for the area of practice.
Completes clinical documentation and care plans for all assigned patients in a timely manner. Seeks feedback regarding practice and takes appropriate actions. Practices according to current practice standards. Communicates patient information for continuity and safe care through hand-offs and rounds. Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by following established procedures and protocols. Implements resources and initiatives to improve patient safety.
Works within guidelines of a Just Culture Environment to promote error reporting and safe practices. Addresses issues through appropriate use of the chain of command. Completes hourly rounding in collaboration with licensed nursing assistants on all assigned patients. Identifies and assists in the correction of patient care safety issues. Recognizes and praises excellent performance in colleagues and co-workers. Builds respectful relationships through proactive identification of concerns and suggestions.
Collaborates across units and shifts for timely resolution of conflicts and issues. Consults with nurses in other departments to draw upon expertise in clinical areas. Displays a professional and positive perspective at all times. Seeks opportunities to assist all team members. Demonstrates a willingness to resolve tension within the unit or department. Acts consistently with the tenets of shared governance and the philosophy of the organization.
Assists with solution identification in response to problems and conflicts. Effectively delegates aspects of care and unit activities to other nursing personnel. Collaborates in planning, supervising, and instructing other nurses and assistants. Works collaboratively with nursing students and instructors. Participates in peer review of colleagues. Participates in readiness for surveys. Demonstrates a commitment to co-workers and holds peers accountable. Manages time off according to policy.
Other duties as consistent with this role. Assists with insertion of flow wire, Opsens, and IVUS. Demonstrates contraindications and reversal for IV adenosine infusion. Ability to safely administer procedural sedation and document sedation according to policy.
