Provides supervisory police coverage to the Governor Hugh J. Gallen State Office Park South with an emphasis on New Hampshire Hospital by coordinating unit work activities and monitoring criminal detection and investigation operations: and assists the supervising officer in commanding the State Office Complex Police Force (SOCPF).

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Education/

Experience:

Associate's degree and 3 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 5 years of education and experience after high school. At least 3 years must be as a certified police officer (full-time certified).

• Valid driver's license
• Full-time police officer certification

• Eyesight and Hearing:
  Must have at least 20/100 in each eye uncorrected and corrected to 20/40 near vision and 20/30 distant vision in each eye and have normal uncorrected depth and color perception; must possess normal hearing sufficient to enable performance of essential job functions
• Examinations:
  • Must pass a physical agility test designed to measure ability to perform essential job functions
  • Must pass a comprehensive background investigation including a fingerprint-based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check, polygraph examination, and psychological examination
  • Must pass a comprehensive medical examination, provided at the State’s expense and performed by a physician selected by the NH Division of State Police, indicating no physical conditions exist prohibiting the performance of essential job functions
  • Must pass unannounced drug testing
• If currently employed in a Division of State Police law enforcement position:
  • Service record must be free of any major infraction of divisional discipline for the past three (3) years
  • Must pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information

• NH full-time police officer certification within the time frame established by the NH Police Standards and Training Council, and within 6 months of hire. Must maintain police officer certification throughout tenure of service.
• Completion of the Department of Health and Human Services Mental Health Worker Training Program within the timeframe established by NH Hospital and no later than 12 months after hire

Plans, assigns, and supervises unit activities as directed by the SOCPF Lieutenant to ensure the security and protection of multiple local, state, and federal agencies located on the campus of the Governor Hugh J. Gallen State Office Park South with an emphasis on New Hampshire Hospital and mental health issues; allocates and adjusts staffing resources.

Supervises the operations of the State Office Complex Police Force on assigned shift with responsibility for evaluating the work performance, appearance and efficiency of subordinate personnel; documents and provides corrective guidance. Oversees and trains subordinate officers to enforce criminal, motor vehicle and all other appropriate federal and state laws rules and regulations as they relate to public safety. Supervises the inspection of facilities, personnel and equipment.

Appears in court as a witness in traffic violations, criminal cases or other administrative hearings as required; prepares, presents, evaluates and reviews cases for prosecution, up to the level of a class B misdemeanor, for review by appropriate prosecutor; serves warrants, domestic violence orders (DVOs) and juvenile petitions as applicable.

Monitors and enforces the policies and procedures governing the security and protection of campus property, including buildings, grounds, parking lots in and around the area, roadways and citizens.
