Job Description

The responsibility of a Fire Sprinkler Foreman is to install sprinkler head, valves, and steel and CPVC pipe in newly constructed structures and renovations to existing structures with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Cut, fabricate and install steel pipe and CPVC pipe as designed for fire sprinkler system.
  • Install and hang a variety of pipe, sprinkler heads, fittings, hangers and other fire protection components in accordance with blueprints and construction documents.
  • Install and trim a variety of valves for wet, dry, and pre‑action fire protection systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to ensure sprinkler system is constructed as designed.
  • Ensure all project close‑out documents are turned in as needed.
  • Attend job meetings and coordinate schedules with GC and other contractors.
  • Ensure project timelines are being met and all required documentation is submitted in a timely manner.
  • Report any scheduling delays, personnel issues, safety concerns to direct supervisor.
  • Coordinate and manage all assigned projects with the superintendent, GC and employees.
  • Ensure communication by assigned crew with vendors and contractors is conducted in a professional manner.
  • Complete daily progress reports, including accidents, design changes, scope changes, and conflicts with design.
  • Ensure materials for a job are ordered and on site as required; store material safely and orderly.
  • Ensure company‑provided vehicle is clean and well maintained.
  • Keep work areas clean, safe and orderly.
  • Clean and inspect required tools in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment and supplies are secured and accounted for.
  • Report daily progress and job‑related problems to superintendent or GC.
  • Train Sprinkler Fitters and Sprinkler Apprentices on their job.
  • Follow SFS Safety program, SDS book, hazardous communication program, and participate in weekly toolbox talks; be familiar with safety documentation.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications Education, Training, Certifications
  • HS Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • NICET Certification, preferred.
Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements
  • 5–10 years’ experience installing fire sprinkler systems, required.
  • Must work alone and as part of a team; construction experience; basic math skills; mechanical aptitude; problem solving; customer service; decision making; multitasking; meet project schedules; plan and organize; troubleshoot; train others.
Communication Skills
  • Effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.
Systems And Software Skills
  • Operate computer, tablet and read electronic blueprints; experience with Sales Force and Microsoft Office preferred.
Other Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Compliance with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements.

Work Environment Requirements
  • Must frequently bend, climb, kneel, lift 50lbs, sit, stoop, twist, work at heights.
  • Frequent local travel; occasional regional/travel; work in hot/cold temps, loud noises, dust, fumes; wear PPE.
