SUMMARY

Traffic Signal Technician I:
To perform field and shop work related to the maintenance and installation of traffic signals and related hardware.

Traffic Signal Technician II:
To perform skilled field and shop work related to the maintenance and installation of traffic signals, other energized traffic controls and ITS devices, communication and related hardware.

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – TRAFFIC SIGNAL TECHNICIAN I
  • Education/

    Experience:

    High school diploma or equivalent credential
  • License/Certification:
    Valid driver's license
  • 1. Applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards established by the hiring agency
  • 2. Offers of employment are conditional upon the individual obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License medical card unless the candidate is currently employed by the State of New Hampshire (if CDL is required after hire)
  • 3. Must receive a negative result on a pre-employment urinalysis drug screen in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations and US DOT requirements
  • 4. Must be able to perform physical activity including walking, lifting, reaching, stooping, standing, grasping, balancing, climbing, keeling and crouching
  • 5. Must be able to work at heights of 30 feet and higher above the ground
  • 6. Must be willing to be on weekend/holiday recall and/or 24-hour call under extremes of weather conditions

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education or experience within maintenance and operation of traffic signal equipment or similar equipment
  • AFTER-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:
    Must possess a valid Commercial Class B License (CDL-B) with air brakes within 1 year of hire

  • Education/

    Experience:

    Equivalent combination of 1 year of education and experience after completion of high school.
  • License/Certification:
    Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class B (CDL-B) with air brakes
