Transportation Management Communications Specialist

Position:
Transportation Management Communications Specialist I, full‑time, #19300, 3rd Shift.

Compensation: $17.81/hour – $23.39/hour.

To receive, process, and disseminate information using the Transportation Management Center’s Transportation Management System (TMS).

• Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after high school.
• Two years in a field or occupation including dispatching, communications, emergency response, information technology or related field.
• License/Certification:
  None.

• Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint‑based criminal background check.
• Must be willing to work an extended and/or flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and may be required to report to work with little notice during transportation events and/or emergencies as needed.
• Must be available for call‑back duty with little notice during transportation events and/or emergencies as required.

• Scans display wall visually to obtain traffic management information.
• Communicates with other TMC operators and supervisors to coordinate traffic management activities.
• Monitors real‑time traffic flow data from multiple sources.
• Operates camera and scans multiple monitors to monitor, verify, and diagnose traffic events.
• Monitors and evaluates environmental conditions and RWIS (Roadway Weather Information Systems).
• Uses multi‑channel telephone and radio headset to communicate with other NHDOT employees, TMC operators, supervisors, interagency traffic management personnel, and the public about traffic management and traffic events.
• Performs and oversees work in full conformance with all risk management, safety, and environmental standards, regulations, and administrative orders.
