THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Cost Accountant will play an important role in supporting Rempac’s manufacturing operations by providing accurate costing information, meaningful financial analysis, and greater visibility into the true costs of production. Working closely with plant leadership, production, engineering, purchasing, and other operational teams, this individual will help ensure costing information accurately reflects what is happening on the production floor and provides leadership with reliable information to support business decisions.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced manufacturing cost accounting professional who is naturally curious, analytical, and willing to dig into the details behind the numbers. The successful candidate will take ownership of product costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, bills of materials, and cost reporting while identifying opportunities to strengthen costing processes, improve accuracy, and provide greater insight into manufacturing performance.

This role is not about simply maintaining existing costing information. Rempac is looking for someone who will ask questions, challenge assumptions, investigate discrepancies, and work collaboratively with operations to understand the factors driving costs. The successful candidate will be comfortable spending time on the production floor, understanding how products are manufactured, and translating operational activity into accurate and meaningful financial information.

Success in this role will come from developing a strong understanding of Rempac’s products and manufacturing processes, building trusted relationships across the organization, and becoming a valued financial partner to the plant. The successful candidate will combine strong technical cost accounting knowledge with an operational mindset and a genuine desire to understand how and why costs are incurred.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze and monitor manufacturing costs (raw materials, labor, overhead) to ensure accurate cost allocation.
  • Prepare, review, and reconcile cost reports and inventory valuations on a regular basis.
  • Develop and implement cost accounting systems and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Conduct variance analysis between actual costs and standard costs; investigate and explain variances.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to support cost control initiatives.
  • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and periodic financial close processes.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations related to cost accounting.
  • Recommend cost-saving measures and process improvements based on data analysis.
  • Maintain and update bills of materials (BOM) and standard costs within the ERP system.
  • Support and validate product costing methodologies to ensure costs accurately reflect production inputs and processes.
FIRST YEAR – MEASURES OF SUCCESS
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Integrity: Ensure all bills of materials are accurate, up to date, and reflective of true production inputs and costs, including leading a comprehensive review and cleanup of existing BOMs.
  • Operational Understanding: Develop a strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes…
