Medical Billing Specialist

Description

We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to support a growing healthcare organization during a period of transition and revenue cycle cleanup. This individual will play a key role in resolving billing backlogs, addressing denials and rebills, posting payments, supporting compliance-related initiatives, and assisting with reporting and special projects. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into data, navigating multiple systems, solving complex billing issues, and partnering with Revenue Cycle, Accounting, and Compliance teams.

Responsibilities:

+ Research and resolve billing backlogs resulting from system and vendor transitions

+ Process rebills, denials, payment postings, and accounts receivable follow-up

+ Pull, reconcile, and analyze data from multiple systems for reporting and compliance requests

+ Assist with financial audits, claims analysis, and payment reviews

+ Generate reports and provide insights to support operational and compliance initiatives

+ Collaborate closely with Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), Accounting, and Compliance teams

+ Identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement

+ Support special projects and ad hoc reporting requests

+ Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to internal stakeholders

Requirements

+ At least 2 years of experience in medical billing within a healthcare, clinic, or related revenue cycle environment.

+ Strong understanding of claims processing, denials management, A/R, rebills, and payment posting

+ Advanced Excel skills, including:

+ Pivot Tables

+ VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs

+ Data analysis and reporting

+ Experience working with multiple healthcare systems and databases

+ Ability to research issues, analyze data, and troubleshoot billing discrepancies

+ Strong communication skills with the ability to explain findings to both technical and non-technical audiences

+ Self-starter with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Experience

+ Experience supporting compliance, audit, or regulatory reporting initiatives

+ Familiarity with revenue cycle analytics and reporting

+

Experience with AdvancedMD, Next Gen, Purity, Time Doc, or similar practice management and healthcare billing systems

+ Exposure to healthcare data analysis and special project work
