Job DescriptionProvides administrative support to the public, handles incoming calls, maintains files and records, and performs a variety of clerical tasks under moderate supervision.
Qualification RequirementsAssociate's degree, 48 hours of college coursework, or five years of experience in the field.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of standard office and receptionist procedures and switchboard operation.
- General knowledge of the public school system functions and activities.
- Clear speaking ability.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, computers, and word-processing tools.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, and the public.
- Positive teamwork skills.
- Greets families and staff, maintains files, orders supplies, copies and drafts correspondence.
- Greets general public and directs them to the appropriate office.
- Answers telephone, takes messages, and schedules appointments for staff.
- Directs incoming calls to the proper office or department.
- Provides general information about school system activities and programs to the public.
- Assists in entering staff data.
- Performs other clerical duties as requested.
- Creates flyers about school events, and provides internal communications with staff.
- Familiar with Ident‑A‑Kid sign‑in procedures and Wherebus field‑trip entry.
- Maintains the master calendar for school events.
- Assists in coordinating substitute placement at the beginning of the day.
- Supports the Principal and Assistant Principal with clerical responsibilities as needed.
- Perform duties of Treasurer/Data Manager when cross‑trained.
- Performs other related tasks as required.
- Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds.
- Regular speaking or hearing; frequent standing, walking, and sitting; occasional use of hands for manual tasks; reaching, lifting, and repetitive motions.
- Standard vision requirements.
- Vocal communication required for clear expression of instructions.
- Hearing required for normal spoken word levels.
- Preparation and analysis of written or computer data.
- No exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
- Work typically in a moderately noisy office setting.
