The Project Management Unit is a high performing unit of Project Managers responsible for delivering high quality and innovative projects to the citizens of North Carolina. This unit is responsible for the preconstruction phase of Transportation highway projects. We recognize the importance of making sure our employees feel valued, respected, and challenged to grow in their professional career.
We are looking for an organized and detail-orientated Administrative Specialist II skilled in managing and prioritizing multiple tasks efficiently.
In this role you will:

• Utilize meticulous attention to detail to ensure documents are error-free and professional  Prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.  
• Utilize strong communication skills to coordinate with management, project managers, and colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

• Be a key player supporting the human resources needs of the unit, as well as processing invoices for payment.

• Work in a fast-paced environment adapting to changing priorities and requirements accurately, quickly, and efficiently.

• Handle sensitive information with integrity and professionalism.  
• Provide administrative support to the unit and answer employee inquiries about HR items, policies, benefits, travel, and expenses.  
• Assist with setting up contracts with Private Engineering Firms.

• Maintain accurate reports for management (i.e., vacancy, personnel action, performance evaluation status).

** Salary Grade and Salary Range:  NC09 $ 41,206 - $72,113
** Management prefers applicants with the following:
*** Experience utilizing office administration skills associated with organizing meetings, managing confidential documents, and organizing and prioritizing work to accurately complete tasks and meet deadlines.
* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
* Experience communicating Human Resource laws and policies, benefits, and processes in response to Unit management and staff’s inquiries.
* Experience consistently producing error-free work by reviewing work for errors, verifying data entries, and ensuring all required details are captured and handled properly.
* Experience creating purchase orders and processing invoices.
** Minimum

Education and Experience

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
