Description of Work

Position will serve as Administrative Specialist I in the Hoke County Maintenance Office located in Raeford.

  • Duties include answering telephone, radio communications, greeting customers, maintaining department's inventory for items stocked, processing payroll and invoices in SAP, operating computer for data entry, typing correspondence and reports such as accident and worker's compensation, and other duties as assigned by the County Maintenance Engineer.
  • Position is subject to work nights and weekends as needed during inclement weather.
  • Applicant must have the ability to work independently; prioritize daily tasks; independently process technical information; follow oral and written instructions; operate copy machine, fax machine, multi-line telephone system, and scanner.
  • Applicant should present information clearly and concisely in oral and written form to communicate with the public, DOT employees, and governmental officials.
  • Applicant must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle.

Salary Grade and Salary Range

NC08 $ 39,244 - $68,679

Management prefers applicants with the following:
  • Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues
  • Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Access, Word, and Excel
  • Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports
  • Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws
  • Experience with letter writing, using correct spelling, punctuation, and proofreading
Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
