Sumer Arts and Craft Instructor

The purpose of this position is to instruct summer playground campers in arts and crafts programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs daily operational duties by communicating schedules with staff, documenting infractions of campers, inventorying supplies, and communicating safety hazards to supervisor.
• Maintains safety of campers by adhering to safety policies and procedures, assisting in supervising campers, reporting safety hazards, and completing accident/injury reports as needed.
• Provides programs by planning age appropriate arts and crafts activities for campers, requesting needed supplies, and working with staff to complete activities.

Supplemental Functions: Performs other similar duties as required.

Job Specifications and

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Arts and crafts principles and practices;
  Basic safety and medical principles
• Developmentally appropriate activities for children;
  Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
• Skills in Planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating activities
• Working with children
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Licensing and

Certifications:

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification;
  First Aid Certification
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Positions in this class typically require: balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
• Medium Work:
  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Incumbents may be subjected to inside and outside environmental conditions.
