Cabarrus County Parks and Active Living is excited to announce we are ramping up for the summer and would like to give you the opportunity to join our Seasonal Team as Camp Counselors!

Cabarrus County Parks is the hub of activity during the summer season, our parks offer a variety of activities including but not limited to summer camp, kayaking, pool, tennis courts, miniature golf, and fishing. We strive to offer a premier outdoor experience for all visitors.

Cabarrus County Camps are designed to:

• challenge the minds of campers with age-appropriate interactive projects.
• promote healthy bodies.
• introduce campers to nature.

Our day camp is open to campers from 6-14 years of age Monday - Friday from 7:00am - 6:00pm. Each age has specialized activities to keep them engaged. Camp includes:

• Clubs like gardening, sports and crafts
• Trips every week
• Age-appropriate games
• A trip to Camp TN Spencer park for swimming

Summer Camp operates from June 1st - July 31st, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
We also host a Spring Break Camp the week of:
March 9th - 13th.

This recruitment will be used to fill several Seasonal Part‑time Camp Counselor positions.

Mandatory - must attend and complete all mandatory trainings.

Performs responsible work for summer day camp programs and activities offered to youth participants. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Senior Counselor.

• Assists in planning, leading, instructing and demonstrating all special programs and activities of the summer day camp program. Supervises program participants. Prepares and maintains records and files.
• Applies and adheres to Parks Department summer camp rules and regulations.
• Mentors program participants.
• Models and teaches socialization skills and implements the summer camp curriculum.
• Provides effective, non‑punitive guidance and concern for each participant and the participant group as a whole.
• Interacts with parents and answers general questions in person.
• Transports and/or accompanies participants on educational and recreational trips.
• Assists in evaluating the summer programs.
• Maintains a clean and safe work location.
• Secures monies collected.
• Performs related tasks as required.

General knowledge of the summer camp program rules, regulations, functions and the principles of creating, organizing, and conducting youth summer programs; general knowledge of principles of meeting developmental needs of children; ability to speak clearly, give oral directions, understand and follow written and oral directions, and work independently; ability to work with people from all socio‑economic levels; ability to establish and maintain discipline, organized structure, and safety for youth in group settings;

ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, parents, and the general public.

• Preferred CPR and First Aid certification.
• Class B Commercial Driver's License (passenger and school bus) valid in state of North Carolina (not required)
• Experience working with youth ages 6-15; past youth programming experience strongly preferred but not required.
