General Superintendent in Clayton, NC

The General Superintendent is responsible for the daily field construction of the project, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, schedules and cost estimates by overseeing all field activities and providing direction to field construction professionals and technical personnel and subcontractors.

• Supervises and directs the daily efforts of the physical construction, coordinating the efforts of Discipline Superintendents, subcontractors and other construction professionals and technical personnel
• Approve or authorize the coordination of craft personnel, material and equipment needed to meet schedules
• Directly support project and construction management with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for all construction activities
• Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options. Recommend/implement appropriate course of action
• Assures all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is compliant with all pertinent requirements
• Provides an environment for the development and advancement of project personnel, including on‑the‑job and formal training and development opportunities
• Craft certification, training, experience and technical knowledge appropriate for assignment scope
• Work within company policies (including Safety and Human Resources policies), client policy and OSHA safety requirements
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of local, state and federal statutes and guidelines
• Miscellaneous duties as directed

• 15 years construction experience, with a minimum of 8 years in a supervisory role
• BA in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred
• NCCER plus certification preferred
• Completion of pre‑hire and post‑hire substance abuse testing as required by company and/or client
• Completion of safety‑related certifications such as OSHA 10 or Safety Council programs as required by company and/or client. OSHA 30 preferred and will need to be obtained
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be computer literate and able to utilize Microsoft Office applications
• Attention to detail and accuracy are essential
• Travel required

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds
• Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age
• Work up to a 12‑hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
