Planning & Construction Project Manager

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead project manager responsible for the development and management of new construction, renovation and major repair projects for the North Carolina Zoo Planning & Construction section
• Manage the design and construction process for capital improvement and renovation projects
• Coordinate internal engineering review of schematic designs and construction drawings provided by outside consultants
• Represent the Zoo at construction progress meetings, conferences, inspections, and with the State Construction Office
• Review construction quality to ensure adherence to plans, specifications, and codes
• Review contractor payment requests and monitor project budgets

• Bachelor’s degree in Facilities or Construction Management or related Engineering field from an appropriately accredited institution
• Two (2) years of related experience in construction project management
• Must have a valid driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
• Must have the agility and physical ability with or without accommodation to regularly and safely lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to modify delivery, language, or material to account for the characteristics and needs of the audience.
• Must have excellent skills with computers including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
