Engineering Technician – Division

• Support technicians and engineers in construction inspection, surveying, materials sampling, testing, erosion control, and construction traffic control
• Perform standardized and non-standardized tests and assignments
• Compile, analyze, compute, edit, and process field data
• Perform calculations and computations
• Maintain accurate records and perform record keeping
• Work under both inside and outside environmental conditions
• Complete assignments independently or with limited supervision and in a team environment
• Interact with the general public and provide customer service

• Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least two years of related experience encouraged
• Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying
• Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking and completing projects independently or with limited supervision
• Experience maintaining neat, legible and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry
• Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments
• Knowledge and skill in the use of computer equipment, iPad and software
• Experience in customer service and interacting with the general public
• Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle
• Safety toe shoes required
• Successful completion of NCDOT post-offer employment evaluation

Demonstrates expertise in construction inspection, surveying, and materials testing, with a strong ability to compile and analyze field data while maintaining accurate records. Proficient in customer service and capable of working independently or collaboratively in diverse environmental conditions.
