The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a BC/BE Interventional Spine Physiatrist to practice at the UNC Hospitals Spine and Imaging Center. The physiatrist will primarily care for patients with back and neck pain, musculoskeletal problems, and acute / chronic spine disorders. Must be able to provide comprehensive clinical care management and trained in fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided procedures, including epidural, facet, and sacroiliac joint injections.
The physiatrist will work closely with a multidisciplinary spine care team and departments with a focus on non-operative treatments such as physical and occupational therapy. This position will be expected to participate in educational, research, and administrative activities associated with their academic appointment and related area of expertise. Some on call responsibility and participation in quality improvement projects is required.
Must have a strong interest in academic medicine to advance our research, education, and clinical activities.
- The successful candidate will be board eligible/board certified in PM&R.
- MD or DO with NC medical license or willingness to obtain state license.
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a record of interdisciplinary collaboration, and a desire to enhance quality of patient care. Successful completion of a Spine and/or Pain fellowship and experience in an academic medical center is desired.
A mix of procedures will include, but not be limited to: SI joint injections, lumbar facet injections, lumbar medial branch blocks, lumbar RFA, lumbar interlaminar epidural steroid injections, lumbar transforaminal epidural steroid injections, cervical interlaminar epidural injections, cervical medial branch blocks, cervical RFA, peripheral joint injections.
