Overview
Brentwood School District is a public education system located in St. Louis County, including the City of Brentwood and portions of surrounding areas. Description / Job-Position SummaryPerform the instructional and classroom management processes for teachers who are absent for a day or longer periods of time, in order to ensure students’ continuous learning, safety and well-being, and academic achievement.

QualificationsEducation and/or Experience
- Must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours or complete the 20-hour training offered by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
- Working on or conferred Bachelor's Degree in education is preferred
- Experience working with youth is preferred
Certificates / Licenses
- Missouri teaching certificate in any subject area or Missouri Substitute Certificate is required

Salary: $120/day for teacher aide vacancies; $130/day for certified vacancies (with substitute certification); $140/day for certified vacancies (with teaching certification)

Instructional Responsibilities
- Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans
- Creates a safe and orderly environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students
- Maintains established routines and classroom procedures
- Maintains reasonable rules of conduct that encourage self-discipline and responsibility
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times and maintains appropriate record keeping of student performance
Professional Responsibilities
- Remains at school the entire school day unless otherwise instructed to leave by the building principal
- Demonstrates professional responsibility and maintains a professional appearance
- Maintains confidentiality regarding staff/student information
- Supervises students in all areas of the school grounds and off-site when involved in school activities
- Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Reports incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse) for student safety and adherence to policies
- Responds to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns and direct to appropriate personnel
- Communicates effectively and professionally with parents, staff, students, and community members
- Performs other duties as assigned by building or district administration
