The School of Government is seeking a tenure track assistant professor of public law and government to specialize in family law. The faculty member will be the School’s point person on family law issues for the State’s district court judges. This faculty member will advise and teach district court judges as well as magistrates, clerks of superior court, and other judicial personnel.
The areas of expertise include child custody, child support, divorce, alimony, equitable distribution, contracts between spouses, contempt, civil domestic violence protective orders, and civil no-contact orders of protection. The faculty member will create, administer, and provide instruction in courses offered through the North Carolina Judicial College, orientation programs and conferences offered through the School’s partnership with the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts, and engage in research and writing and responsible for updating The North Carolina Trial Judges’ Bench Book, Family Law Edition.
