Overview
The Associate Dean serves as the chief representative of the school, the leader of the school in its internal affairs, and the liaison between the school faculty and the university administration. The Associate Dean is the administrative and instructional leader of the school. The duties of the Associate Dean involve collaboration and interaction with faculty, staff, students, and other administrators.
Minimum
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A doctorate degree in nursing or a related field.
- An active, unencumbered North Carolina RN license.
- A record of excellence in teaching, research, and service commensurate with the rank of a tenured Associate Professor/Professor.
- At least two years of full-time faculty experience in a Board-approved nursing program.
- Demonstrated academic or nursing leadership skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Collaborative work style and effective time management.
- Demonstrate command of theory and practice in the field.
- Meet regulatory requirements for educational degree level and field experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Empathetic and patient, with the ability to accommodate student challenges while maintaining educational standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with accreditation and regulatory reporting.
- Experience in community college or higher education settings.
- Experience with grant development and management.
