Position: 2026-2027 Classroom Teacher (K-2)

Cabarrus County School District, Cox Mill Elementary, Concord, North Carolina.

Job Overview

Perform challenging professional teaching work, providing a broad range of instructional services to support students in developing skills, attitudes and knowledge as a foundation for future learning. Work under the supervision of the Principal. Starting Date:
Aug 5, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials employing effective teaching strategies.
  • Maintain classroom management, addressing learning and behavior issues.
  • Differentiate instruction based on developmental appropriateness.
  • Assess student progress using multiple methods and provide progress and interim reports.
  • Communicate timely with parents and maintain constructive communication with students, staff, parents, and community.
  • Protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Enforce board policy, district goals, administrative procedures and school rules.
  • Maintain punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time.
  • Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; attend relevant workshops, seminars, conferences and meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents and teachers.
  • Assist with student supervision during school hours.
  • Perform non‑instructional duties as assigned.

Teachers Facilitate Learning for Their Students

  • Understand learning processes and developmental stages.
  • Plan instruction collaboratively, using data sources.
  • Choose instructional methods that meet student needs.
  • Use technology to maximize learning.
  • Encourage critical thinking, problem‑solving, teamwork and leadership.
  • Communicate effectively in ways understood by students.
  • Assess learning with multiple indicators.

Standard V:
Teachers Reflect on Their Practice

  • Analyze student learning critically.
  • Link professional growth to goals through ongoing development.
  • Adapt to a dynamic educational environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an approved education program (subject area).
  • Strong background in North Carolina Course of Study, Common Core, and Essential Standards.
  • NC teaching license in the appropriate subject area or eligibility to obtain one.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds.
  • Regular speaking, hearing, hand use, repetitive motions; frequent sitting; occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; reaching; pushing, pulling, lifting.
  • Standard vision requirements.
  • Vocal and hearing communication at normal levels.
  • Prepare and analyze written or computer data; operate machines or equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Work in a moderately noisy location.
