Job Title: Exceptional Children’s Pre‑K Teacher

Salary: Based on North Carolina Teaching Salary Schedule

Reports to: Principal

Position Type: Full‑Time

Essential Functions
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that employ effective teaching strategies.
  • Maintain classroom management, recognizing and addressing learning and behavior issues.
  • Understand developmental appropriateness of materials and differentiate instruction to meet all learners’ needs.
  • Evaluate student accomplishments regularly using multiple assessment methods; provide progress and interim reports.
  • Communicate with parents in a timely manner; maintain positive, constructive communication with students, staff, parents and community.
  • Protect students, equipment, materials and facilities by taking necessary precautions.
  • Uphold board policy, district goals, administrative procedures and school rules and regulations; adhere to health and safety policies.
  • Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time.
  • Keep current in subject‑matter knowledge and learning theory; attend workshops, seminars and conferences and participate in staff, department and curriculum meetings as required.
  • Respect confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents and teachers in accordance with professional ethics and state and federal laws.
  • Share responsibility during the school day for supervising students in designated areas of the school.
