Job Description Summary

The Business Administration Instructor provides engaging, student‑centered instruction and designs high‑quality courses and learning experiences that prepare students for today’s dynamic business environment. This role emphasizes active learning strategies, intentional course design practices, responsible integration of AI in the classroom, and a strong commitment to student success and continuous professional growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Delivery & Course Management
  • Facilitate all assigned class hours—on campus, online, or hybrid—professionally and in alignment with the academic calendar.
  • Create student‑ready, accurate, and professional syllabi that meet Faculty Syllabus Checklist requirements.
  • Develop, administer, and assess meaningful assignments and learning activities aligned with program outcomes, general education competencies, and the College’s Quality Enhancement Plan.
  • Begin and end classes on time and maintain full instructional hours.
  • Communicate promptly with the division chair in the event of illness or emergencies.
  • Create, administer, and assess assignments that promote critical thinking.
  • Post and maintain required office hours each semester.
  • Provide alternative learning activities for students during instructor absences.
  • Adhere to all college policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and safeguard instructional equipment and supplies.
  • Substitute for colleagues as assigned.
  • Participate in institutional effectiveness planning, including identifying learning outcomes and using assessment results for improvement.
  • Carry a teaching load of 18 contact hours during fall and spring semesters.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Submit accurate attendance rosters, grades, reports, and required documentation by established deadlines.
  • Assist in selecting and updating textbooks and learning resources.
  • Provide supplemental instructional support such as Moodle resources, tutoring referrals, and review sessions.
Academic Advising
  • Provide accurate academic advising to students.
  • Participate in advisor training sessions.
Instructional Design & Learning Experience Development
  • Build and maintain supplemental digital learning resources (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, course shells, instructional videos, interactive modules).
  • Integrate generative AI and workplace‑relevant AI tools appropriately into curriculum, instruction, and assignment design.
  • Teach students ethical and effective use of AI and emerging business technologies.
  • Utilize instructional technology—including LMS tools, analytics, and AI‑enhanced teaching aids—to improve engagement and learning outcomes.
Student Support & Success
  • Refer at‑risk students to tutoring or support services and hold review or consultation sessions outside of class as needed.
Assessment & Institutional Effectiveness
  • Participate in institutional effectiveness planning, including identifying student learning outcomes, assessing performance, and implementing improvement strategies.
  • Submit student artifacts when selected for General Education Assessment.
  • Support and uphold college policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Professional Development
  • Participate in mandatory on‑campus professional development activities.
  • Engage in college‑sponsored professional development that enhances teaching practice, AI literacy, digital pedagogy, and business‑related expertise.
  • Serve on institutional committees related to the General Education (Gen Ed) process, including assessment, curriculum alignment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Pursue ongoing learning in areas such as emerging technologies, business trends, culturally responsive teaching, and curriculum innovation.
