Position
Assistant/Associate or Full Professor (Tenure‑track)
Location:
Raleigh, North Carolina.
Work schedule:
8 am–5 pm, Monday–Friday, with occasional additional hours.
The Genetic Engineering and Society (GES) Center is recruiting a tenure‑track faculty member to teach and conduct interdisciplinary research at NC State University. The candidate will split time 50/50 between a home department and the GES minor/certificate programs, contribute to grant development, and serve on the Center’s executive committee.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in the GES minor/certificate, and/or Genetics and Genomics Academy programs.
- Allocate 50% of time to a home department (College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Natural Resources, Sciences, or Agriculture and Life Sciences).
- Contribute to collaborative grant development for the GES Center.
- Serve on the GES Center’s executive committee to set strategy and program planning.
- Engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research across the university.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Earned doctorate in social sciences, humanities, or natural sciences with demonstrated expertise in social science, humanities, or policy research.
- Experience and interest in interdisciplinary and collaborative research.
- Experience working in areas related to societal dimensions of biotechnologies.
- Demonstrated capacity to work with varied student populations and prepare future professionals to work with diverse populations.
- Record of internally/externally funded research, including grant budget and staff management.
- Experience establishing and sustaining collaborations with private and/or public partner agencies.
- Teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate levels.
- Mentoring doctoral students in funded research and dissertation development.
- Experience in one or more intersectional domains:
Artificial Intelligence and Biosecurity, Genetics/Genomics, Novel Food Proteins and Sustainability.
