Staff Development Specialist I (S) – Temporary – NC12
Location:
3600 Samarcand Road, Jackson Springs, NC 27281 – Moore County. Assigned to the Department of Public Safety – JJ Administration.
Hourly Pay: $34.16 (based on education and/or relevant work experience).
Responsibilities /Job Duties
- Assist the Division's Criminal Justice School Director in administering certified criminal justice training programs.
- Maintain operational continuity in the absence of the School Director when delegated authority is assigned.
- Coordinate classroom scheduling, facilities usage, and training logistics.
- Ensure training facilities, equipment, and instructional materials meet program requirements.
- Assist instructors with administrative requirements associated with course delivery.
- Serve as a liaison for the Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention with on-site presence at Samarcand Training Academy and other Commission-approved training locations for the Division's Basic Training School Programs.
- Act as direct point of contact with Samarcand Administrators for daily operations when the Division's Criminal Justice School Director is not available.
- Provide immediate assistance with course instruction and urgent on-site matters for business continuity supporting functional supervision of trainees, instructors, and professional lecturers.
- Possession of current General Instructor Certification or a minimum of four years’ experience as a criminal justice officer or administrator/specialist directly related to the criminal justice system.
- Ability to obtain General Instructor Certification within 60 days.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, including coaching and professional development.
- Demonstrated experience in project and time management, including assessing, planning, executing, and evaluating instructional systems design coursework, delivery, and instruction of Commission-approved training curricula to adult learners.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Criminal Justice Standards, administrative code, rules, and requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in a progressive training or teaching role, OR one year of experience in a human service, counseling, or training program in the specified subject matter, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
This is a temporary position, and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).
