This position is located in Wayne County at the Work Source East Training Facility in Goldsboro, NC.
The primary purpose of this position is to prepare individuals with disabilities for the workforce by addressing specific academic needs/deficits and providing skills training that will increase their employability including academic, social, interpersonal and basic life management skills. Develop curriculum and training methods, identify tasks and write objectives for the class.
Job Duties- Provide quality instruction and appropriate learning strategies to teach basic academic skills (math and reading), social, interpersonal, and basic life management skills.
- Develop and provide accommodations as needed.
- Ensure students meet goals and progress at a satisfactory rate.
- Maintain a safe and orderly instructional environment in the classroom.
- Model professional behaviors in the classroom.
- Keep accurate student records and complete required documentation.
- Provide feedback to case managers on client behavior/progress as needed.
- Maintain accurate records on students’ grades and attendance.
- Give tests and other assignments to judge students’ progress and additional needs.
- Develop objectives and instructional activities for the class; continually assess/revise as needed to meet the needs of the students.
- Collaborate with instructors in each vocational training area to determine the needs of students and create relevant training objectives.
- Coordinate and lead student activities including Student Council, PRIME and other miscellaneous events that promote student interaction, advocacy and positive behaviors.

- Knowledge of teaching methods in an academic setting.
- Knowledge of basic academic skills (math and reading), social, interpersonal, and basic life management skills.
