Job Title: Special Education Teacher
Location: Misenheimer, NC
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Special Education Teacher to join our school in Misenheimer, NC. The ideal candidate will provide personalized instruction and support to students with special needs, fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth in an inclusive classroom environment.
Core Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
- Modify the general education curriculum to accommodate students' varying abilities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to support student learning and progress.
- Utilize diverse instructional strategies to promote student engagement and achievement.
- Regularly assess and document student progress, adjusting teaching methods as needed.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other relevant professional activities.
- Keep accurate and comprehensive records of student performance and progress.
- Stay informed about the latest developments and best practices in special education.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field. A Masters degree is an asset.
- Licensure:
- Valid North Carolina Professional Educators License in Special Education (K-12).
- Must meet the requirements of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
- Certifications:
- Appropriate teaching certification in Special Education.
- Additional certifications as required by the state of North Carolina.
- Experience:
- Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs is beneficial.
- Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of special education laws and practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching students with special needs.
- The role may involve lifting and moving educational materials and equipment.
- The teacher may need to assist students with physical needs, including mobility and personal care.
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
