Job Description Student Support Services Coordinator Position Type:
Full-Time, Exempt

Position Overview

Carolina International School is seeking a highly organized, student-centered professional to serve as its Student Support Services Coordinator
. This multifunctional position combines school counseling, Section 504 coordination, high school career and postsecondary planning, testing assistance, McKinney-Vento support and other student-services responsibilities.

Approximately 50% of the position will be devoted to school counseling and direct student support
. The remaining time will support compliance, career-readiness, testing and other school wide student-service functions.

The successful candidate must be able to provide compassionate and effective student support while managing confidential records, compliance requirements, meetings, deadlines and multiple responsibilities across a K–12 school environment.

Primary Responsibilities School Counseling and Student Support
  • Provide individual, small-group and classroom-based counseling services.

  • Support students experiencing academic, attendance, behavioral, social-emotional or family-related challenges.

  • Assist students with goal setting, decision-making, conflict resolution, school adjustment and academic planning.

  • Participate in student-support, intervention, attendance, behavior, crisis-response and school-safety meetings.

  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators and outside service providers.

  • Refer students and families to appropriate school and community resources.

  • Maintain confidential counseling records and follow all required reporting and student-safety procedures.

Section 504 Coordination
  • Coordinate Section 504 referrals, eligibility meetings, annual reviews, reevaluations and plan development.

  • Provide required notices, procedural safeguards and documentation to families.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential Section 504 records and compliance calendars.

  • Distribute plans to appropriate staff and monitor implementation of accommodations.

  • Provide consultation and training to employees regarding Section 504 responsibilities.

  • Coordinate appropriate classroom and testing accommodations with school personnel.

  • Notify administration of compliance concerns, missed services or unresolved parent concerns.

High School Career and Postsecondary Counseling
  • Assist students with four-year academic, graduation, career and postsecondary plans.

  • Review transcripts, credits and graduation progress in collaboration with appropriate staff.

  • Identify and support students who are at risk of falling behind or not graduating on time.

  • Provide information regarding colleges, universities, community colleges, technical programs, employment, apprenticeships and military opportunities.

  • Assist with college applications, scholarships, financial-aid resources, résumés, interviews and career exploration.

  • Coordinate college, career, financial-aid and workforce-readiness activities.

  • Track senior graduation requirements and postsecondary plans.

Testing Assistance
  • Assist the designated School Test Coordinator with testing schedules, rosters, student communications, room assignments and make-up testing.

  • Help verify approved testing accommodations for eligible students.

  • Serve as a trained test administrator, proctor or testing support staff member when assigned.

  • Follow all testing-security procedures and immediately report testing irregularities.

  • This position will support, but will not independently serve as, the school’s primary or backup testing coordinator.

McKinney-Vento and Additional Student Services
  • Assist in identifying and supporting students experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

  • Help remove barriers involving enrollment, attendance, transportation and participation.
