Position: Instructor, Paralegal Technologies (9 months)

Under general supervision, the Paralegal Instructor serves as a faculty member in the Paralegal/Legal Studies program, responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across multiple modalities while supporting student success, program development, and accreditation requirements. The role integrates current legal practices and emerging technologies into the curriculum, contributes to departmental and institutional initiatives, and maintains strong connections with the legal community to ensure program relevance and workforce alignment.

What

You’ll Do
  • Teaches assigned paralegal/legal studies courses in various formats (daytime, evening, online, hybrid, hyflex) using lecture, demonstration, and applied learning methods.
  • Develops and maintains instructional materials including course syllabi, lesson plans, learning objectives, assignments, assessments, and lab activities.
  • Evaluates and selects textbooks and instructional resources to support curriculum effectiveness and alignment with industry standards.
  • Assesses student learning through grading, feedback, critiques, and evaluation of coursework and practical assignments.
  • Maintains accurate academic records and completes required reports such as attendance, grades, and end-of-term documentation.
  • Incorporates current legal trends and technologies into instruction, including e-filing systems, case management software, e-discovery tools, and artificial intelligence applications (e.g., GPT, Westlaw Precision, Co-Counsel).
  • Adapts curriculum and instructional delivery to support online and technology-enhanced learning environments.
  • Advises and supports students in academic planning, registration, career pathways, and skill development.
  • Assists students with placement opportunities, co-op experiences, graduation processes, and provides letters of recommendation.
  • Recruits and engages prospective students through outreach and program promotion activities.
  • Participates in curriculum development, program review, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure program quality and relevance.
  • Supports accreditation processes, including preparation of reports, documentation, and participation in site visits (e.g., ABA re-approval).
  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators across departments and divisions to support program and institutional goals.
  • Maintains active involvement in professional organizations and stays current with developments in legal education and the paralegal profession.
  • Utilizes and instructs students in the use of relevant legal and office technologies and software.
  • Assists with departmental planning, goal setting, and development of program objectives.
  • Serves on college committees, advisory boards, and participates in institutional meetings and activities.
  • Supports part-time instructors and provides coverage for classes as needed.
  • Maintains and utilizes instructional equipment, lab materials, and classroom technologies.
  • Prepares, processes, and maintains required documentation and correspondence in both electronic and paper formats.
  • Responds to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and the public in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assists with marketing and community outreach to promote the Paralegal Program and build partnerships with local legal professionals and organizations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited institution and an active law license, in any of the 50 states
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience practicing law and/or teaching with at least one (1) year experience supervising Paralegals
