Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.
This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

* Purpose:
** Equipment Design and Development Engineer responsible for leading or working within multi-discipline teams to Prototype and Pilot Equipment Design for optical fiber manufacturing processes and products. Work is completed as a member of a technology development team chartered to improve one or more of the following: manufacturing yield (selections), process rate, machine utilization, product quality, new products, environmental compliance, safety, and/or energy usage.
** Major Responsibilities:** - Use established processes to identify concepts for manufacturing equipment, design, build and test selected concepts as an individual and in teams and utilize risk management tools to ensure on-time delivery.
- Designing and executing equipment validation test in a manufacturing plant; analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations.
- Collaborating with other equipment/machine design experts within and outside of OFC development organization.
- Securing funding via appropriation requests and expense budgeting processes to support equipment design and development.
- Communicating and documenting results and equipment designs.
