Senior Engineer, Validation & Release - NA Engineering Location

Arden, NC

Job Purpose

The Borg Warner Arden campus offers two world‑class technical centers and a cutting‑edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. This position ensures that all BWTS products meet or exceed reliability, durability, and performance targets and is responsible for development and testing issues associated with qualification and engineering release of turbochargers and turbocharger components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate as part of a program management team to determine appropriate testing and other validation work required to achieve engineering and production release according to customer deadlines.
    • Lead PAA, DFMEA, and DVP&R workshops.
    • Provide input for testing requirements, test planning, and acceptance criteria.
    • Conduct testing to fulfil DVP&R, verifying that standard procedures are used.
    • Review test results and make pass/fail decisions.
    • Provide feedback to engineering staff, program management, and customers as needed.
  • Lead an issue resolution/8D investigation team to analyze failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide engineering support to the manufacturing plants.
    • Determine necessary validation analysis/testing for engineering changes and deviations and conduct analysis/testing as required.
    • Approve PPAPs for engineering.
    • Lead DfV and VA/VE teams to determine and conduct necessary analysis and testing.
  • Provide feedback for updating and maintaining standards and procedures used for product testing and qualification.
  • Possess proficiency or acquire the ability to design tools and techniques indicated in the Design Tools and Skills Matrix.
  • Understand and adhere to current quality, control, health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Communicate and enforce safe work procedures, identify and close safety issues, and document corrective actions.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
What we are looking for
  • BSME or equivalent required (MSME is a plus).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Background in engineering disciplines including vibration, acoustics, heat transfer, stress, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and controls.
  • Hands‑on engineer with mechanical fabrication experience and basic electronics understanding.
  • Knowledge of lab practices using pressure transducers, temperature transducers, flow meters, accelerometers, microphones, and other vibration or noise measuring instruments.
  • Experience in high‑speed and high‑temperature instrumentation and/or practical experience in diesel engine performance/emissions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead meetings and direct resources.
  • Proficient in hand gages such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and related equipment.
  • Ability to lead projects from conception to closure with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Use of ProE/CAD tools to model test fixtures and equipment is a plus.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis software (e.g., Minitab) is a plus.
  • Spanish is a plus.

The individual will work in a way that stresses preventing injury, accidents, or illnesses to themselves or co‑workers by correcting or reporting unsafe situations, incidents, or occurrences to their Team Lead immediately.

Salary Range

$100,800 - $141,750
