RN - PACU
About Facility:

o 920 Church St N, Concord, NC 28025

o Licensed for 457 beds

o Level 3 Trauma

o Stroke center of Excellence

o Bariatric center of Excellence

o Chest Pain Center

o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Department Information:

o 19 OR suites - 17 rooms are blocked

o About Unit Designations:

• Bariatric Center of Excellence

• Advanced Spine Surgery Certification

o Avg Cases per day:

• Approximately 55 cases per day to include OR, Endo and some Cath Lab

o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years of Pre Op/PACU experience

o Will you accept a first-time traveler? No - must have completed at least 1 travel assignment
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

o Surgery specialties include Trauma, Ortho Trauma, Ortho Total Joints, Spine, Hearts, Vascular, GYN, GYN-Oncology, Robotics (we have three), General surgeries, HPB, Bariatrics, Urology, ENT, Eyes, Pain, Plastics

o PACU will also recover some Endo/Lithotripsy and Cath Lab cases
Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

o RN: BLS, ACLS, PALS
Skills required:

o EPIC experience is required

o Must be comfortable to work Pre-Op as the majority of their assignment will be working in the Pre Op area

• On weekends, the two teams share a workspace and collaborate as a single unit; therefore, PACU skillsets are required for these shifts.

o Pre Op skills: proficiency with IV starts and phlebotomy, pre-op nerve blocks are done at this facility (preferred experience)

o PACU skills - Critical care drip management, vent management (RT will adjust settings), chest tubes, trach management, CVL management, cardiac rhythm interpretation

• Use of dopplers, bladder scanner, Vioptix (O2 sensor to record oxygen levels in the reconstructed tissue to detect poor perfusion)
Support within the Department:

o Clinical Supervisor - will take a modified patient assignment and is resource for department

o Peri Anesthesia Educator that rounds frequently
Technology/Equipment:

o EPIC - required

o Omnicell

o Alaris
Floating:

o None
Orientation (facility and unit):

o 2 days departmental - will depend on comfort level and experience
Scheduling:

o Weekend rotation: every 4th weekend (Sat/Sun only)

o Call required:
Average of 2 call shifts per 6-week schedule

• 30-minute response time

• Weekday call only
- o Holiday Expectations:
Travelers will work 75% of holidays

o RTO: up to 7 days, as long as traveler is willing to extend

o Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
