Indirect Commodity Manager Position Overview
Reporting to senior sourcing leadership, this role is responsible for the sourcing and procurement of indirect goods and services supporting operational and strategic needs across North America. The Indirect Commodity Manager will lead supplier strategy across key indirect categories-such as MRO, IT, travel, professional services, and facilities-while partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders. This role may include leadership responsibility for direct reports.
Key Responsibilities- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers and technologies across indirect spend categories
- Develop and manage a competitive, high-performing indirect supply base
- Own supplier relationships, driving cost, quality, and service improvements
- Partner with internal stakeholders to negotiate commercial terms and service agreements
- Serve as a primary point of contact for indirect sourcing activities across the organization
- Ensure accurate supplier and material data management within ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Communicate sourcing updates and support internal teams with procurement needs
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
- Drive process improvements and cost savings through cross-functional collaboration
- Support general sourcing and procurement operations as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field
- 3-5+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or indirect sourcing
- Experience managing indirect categories such as MRO, facilities, IT, or services
- Prior leadership experience or exposure to managing others preferred
- Strong understanding of indirect procurement and supplier management
- Ability to manage multiple categories and projects simultaneously
- Analytical mindset with experience evaluating supplier proposals and cost models
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strategic thinking with the ability to build long-term supplier partnerships
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
