Position Description

Lilly is investing over $1 Billion to build a new, environmentally conscious campus in Concord, North Carolina. This campus will increase capacity in parenteral (injectable) medications, device assembly, and packaging operations. During the project phase, Parenteral (PAR) Operators (Entry to Lead) will support start-up activities to bring the Inspection department into service, become experts in their assigned area, and lead training of new staff.

The Expert and Lead roles are expected to become leaders for PAR equipment and processes and will lead training. Travel domestically (2–4 week trips and/or 3–9 month assignments) and potentially internationally to collaborate and learn from other sites.

After the project phase, the role will ensure continuous supply by operating the process, troubleshooting, and collaborating cross-functionally while maintaining safety and quality standards. Senior and Lead Operators will coordinate daily activities to meet capacity plans and build team capabilities. This role offers significant growth opportunities into future leadership and technical roles.

Key Objectives / Deliverables Integrity
  • Provide leadership on the manufacturing floor with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity to maintain reliable product supply.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and support Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) goals.
  • Act as administrator and technical leader for operations; demonstrate procedural knowledge, quality system compliance, and teaching of proper techniques.
Excellence
  • Technical leader and primary point of contact for issue escalation on the shop floor.
  • Administer technical training and ensure operators are trained to perform tasks.
  • Operate equipment and perform activities to meet production schedules.
  • Assist in checking execution documentation (Electronic Batch Record, SAP, Cleaning Logs).
  • Drive safety performance, reduce deviations, improve productivity, and ensure training compliance.
Respect for People
  • Support Site Leadership in building a diverse and capable site organization by delivering area procedures and quality controls for PAR areas.
  • Assist Supervisor with development and evaluations of shift operators; act as backup for Supervisor.
  • Serve as a key liaison between operations and support functions.
Requirements (Education, Experience, Training) Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Multiple operator levels are open based on experience and education.
  • Minimum education:

    High School Diploma or GED
  • Effective communication (electronic, written, verbal)
  • Problem-solving and triage abilities
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must pass a vision exam and be free of color blindness; 20/20 corrected vision
Time Commitments and Work Authorization
  • Must pass a fitness for duty physical exam
  • Hours:

    6pm–6am on a 2-2-3 schedule in operation
  • Overtime as required
  • Wear safety equipment and gown in cleanroom (Grade C, ISO
    8) environment
  • Authorized to work in the United States;

Preferred Attributes (Not Required)
  • Leadership and ability to train/educate team members for Senior/Lead roles
  • STEM degree or certifications
  • Experience with automated, semi-automated, or manual inspection
  • Knowledge of CGMPs
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or food processing industries
  • Manufacturing Execution Systems and electronic batch release
  • Continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Highly automated equipment (inspection, packaging, filling, assembly)
