Ketchie Inc. is an AS9100 certified facility with capabilities that include collaborative robots, pallet automation, 5-axis machining, turning, milling, broaching, EDM, grinding, and gear cutting.

Position Summary

The Machinist is responsible for programming, setup, operation, and inspection of precision CNC machined components to meet quality and production requirements. This role develops efficient machining programs, prepares machines for production, and ensures parts are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to specification. The ideal candidate is a skilled machinist who takes ownership of their work, understands machining processes, and contributes to continuous improvement across the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities CNC Programming
  • Create and edit CNC programs using Mazatrol and/or CAM software
  • Develop efficient machining strategies to optimize cycle times and tool life
  • Review part drawings and determine machining approach, tooling, and work holding
  • Troubleshoot and refine programs during first-run prove-outs
  • Maintain organized and documented programs for repeat production
CNC Setup & Operation
  • Set up CNC mills and/or lathes for production runs
  • Load tooling, fixtures, and materials according to setup documentation
  • Operate machines to produce parts that meet required specifications
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed
  • Maintain safe and organized work areas around assigned machines
Part Inspection & Quality
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators
  • Verify dimensions against prints and GD&T requirements
  • Perform in-process inspections to ensure consistent part quality
  • Identify and report any non-conforming parts or process issues
Process Improvement & Troubleshooting
  • Monitor tool wear and replace tooling as required
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize processes
  • Recommend improvements to tooling, fixturing, and machining strategies
  • Work with production leadership to improve cycle times and reliability
Documentation & Communication
  • Follow setup sheets, work instructions, and job travelers
  • Document inspection results and production data
  • Communicate machining issues, delays, or quality concerns promptly
  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and leadership when needed
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience
  • Experience programming CNC machines
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
  • Experience performing machine setups and prove-outs
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and cutting parameters
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Mazak machines and Mazatrol controls
  • Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam
  • Experience machining tight-tolerance parts
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or industrial manufacturing environments
