GM Performance Power Units is seeking a skilled and passionate Teardown Technician for the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) to join our team in Concord, NC. This role involves assisting with engine strip/teardown, cleaning high-performance race engine components, and non-destructive testing (NDT), all while adhering to high standards and attention to detail. The ideal candidate would be mechanically adept, have a passion for motorsports, and be able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the teardown/strip of the ICE assembly.
- Process new and used engine components through critical cleaning operations using both manual and automated means.
- Perform NDT operations as part of the teardown process.
- Perform daily and weekly maintenance on cleaning machines, ensuring they perform to the highest standard.
- Perform cleaning processes on complete engines after racetrack or dyno use.
- Assist in the uncrating process of the engine/power unit.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to environmental and safety standards.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to meet production timelines.
- Adapt to changing work environments and competing demands while maintaining a high standard of quality.
- Basic knowledge of engine assembly tools and engine components.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand basic engine operation.
- Basic computer skills.
- Physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs., and using upper body strength for cleaning processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to precision.
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in engine building.
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across various organizational levels.
- Innovative problem‑solving skills with a customer‑centric mindset.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands.
- Experience in a race engine environment.
- Trade school or equivalent qualification with emphasis on engine building/testing.
