Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with at least 5 years of experience and a current NC or compact RN license for a day shift role.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital-based Operating Room with 19 OR suites, serving a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke, Bariatric, and Chest Pain Center
- Surgical specialties include trauma, ortho trauma, total joints, spine, cardiac, MI vascular, GYN, GYN-Oncology, robotics, general, HPB, bariatrics, urology, ENT, eyes, pain, and plastics
- Cases average 50 per day with advanced spine surgery and bariatric center designations
- Day shift position with 12-hour shifts, typically 7a-7p, though other shifts possible
- Weekend rotation every 4th weekend, with weekend coverage provided via on-call or scheduled shift
- On-call required, averaging 6 call shifts per 6-week schedule, with a 45-minute response time
- Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
- EPIC EMR is used in the department
- No floating required
- Responsibilities include circulating a wide range of complex surgical cases
- Support available from service line clinical supervisors, charge nurses, educators, surgical assistants, and technical staff
- Department provides orientation including general and 2 days of unit-specific training
- Scrubs are provided to staff
- Free parking is available
- OR team culture with emphasis on flexibility and teamwork
- RTO requests require manager approval
- Current, active NC or compact RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum of 5 years of OR RN experience
- Ability to circulate in a variety of cases including trauma, ortho trauma, total joints, spine, vascular, cardiac, robotics, GYN, and more
- CNOR certification preferred but not required
- Must be flexible, self-driven, and able to accommodate varied case requests
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
