Registered Nurse (Nights) – Walter
B. Jones Center
Position within the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, responsible for inpatient treatment, psychiatric stabilization, and medical detoxification for individuals with substance use and co‑occurring psychiatric diagnoses.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care: monitor physical status, vital signs, and nurse triage assessments; administer medication and collaborate with the Treatment Team.
- Develop nursing care plans based on diagnosis and identified patient problems and independently carry out the nursing process.
- Perform inpatient treatment, psychiatric stabilization, and medical detoxification for patients with substance use and other co‑occurring psychiatric diagnoses.
- Collect data on patient outcomes and support a culture of continuous quality improvement.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
- Ability to independently plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Knowledge of medications and the physiological effect of medications.
- Ability to communicate information concisely and descriptively through verbal, written, or demonstration.
- Ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations.
- Evenings/Night (6:45 pm – 7:15 am):
Monday – Friday 20%;
Saturday & Sunday 30%.
Eligible for a $10,000 sign‑on bonus (contingent on 2025‑2026 budget approval). Eligibility requires a full‑time permanent position working 30‑40 hours per week; prorated bonus for less than 40 hours.
Salary Range$58,898 – $88,348, based on qualifications, internal equity, and budget considerations.
