Certified Nursing Assistant

Hospital Name: Rutherford Regional

Shift: Full Time – Night Shift (3/12 hour shifts with rotating weekend 7p–7a)

• Perform patient care responsibilities considering the standard of care for patients of all ages.
• Provide morning and evening care including bathing, hygiene, linen changes, and room upkeep.
• Notify licensed personnel when a patient complains of pain.
• Prepare patients for meals, serve food, and assist with feeds if necessary.
• Distribute water and other nourishment.
• Answer call lights, anticipate needs, and make rounds.
• Assist with handling personal property such as dentures, glasses, hearing aids, etc.
• Maintain patient safety and reduce the likelihood of medical errors.
• Transport patients between departments.
• Record changes in patient condition and report unusual incidents.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.
• Assist licensed nursing staff with treatment procedures.
• Adjust plan of care based on patient response and evaluate effectiveness.
• Integrate plan with Rehabilitation Services treatment plan to attain optimal functioning.
• Provide general nursing care: positioning, lifting, use of special equipment, bedpan assistance, ambulation, and correct body mechanics.
• Check for skin breakdown and report.
• Obtain and record temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, intake, and output.
• Coordinate handover with oncoming shift.
• Maintain collaborative relationships within and across departments.
• Communicate clearly to nurses, supervisors, physicians, and Rehabilitation Services staff.
• Consult other departments to provide interdisciplinary care.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stress.
• Treat patients and families with respect and maintain confidentiality.
• Use supplies and linens efficiently, following charge procedures.
• Follow infection control procedures and keep the unit clean.
• Meet documentation standards and policies.
• Operate equipment safely.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies or physically distressful situations.
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope.

Education: High School diploma preferred.

License &

Certifications:

Certified Nursing Assistant in state of practice; BLS required;
Handle with Care preferred.
