Job Details
• Medical/Surgical Overflow unit within a 457-bed Level 3 Trauma hospital that is also a Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center,
• Patient population includes chronic disease, CHF, mental health, addiction services (patients requiring 6-week IV antibiotics), COPD, diabetes, wound care, and geriatric care,
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-6 (acuity dependent); ratios may increase to 1:7-8 during surge periods,
• Skills utilized include cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes,
• EMR:
Epic,
• Department equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, telemedicine cart, and doppler,
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 36 hours per week,
• Every other weekend rotation required,
• No on-call requirements,
• Floating required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH pediatrics) - candidates must be agreeable to this requirement,
Job Requirements
• Active NC or compact RN license required,
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS,
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year,
• General Med/Tele skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating drip management,
• 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration,
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration,
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted,
Additional Information
• Supportive team structure includes a Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor,
• Orientation includes NEO followed by 2 days of departmental orientation,
• Schedules are set in 6-week cycles,
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays,
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved (excluding holidays); missed contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract,
• Scrubs:
Navy blue required,
• Free parking available on-site,
• Department culture emphasizes teamwork and accountability,
• Candidates who have previously held a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible,
