American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 3 Trauma center, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details- Work in a 40-bed Intensive Care Unit with a 40-patient census
- Level 3 Trauma center, Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
- Patient population includes ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy cases, opti-flow and BiPAP patients, overdose patients, GI bleeds, and some trauma patients
- Utilizes endotool and CRRT for select patients
- RN to patient ratio of 1:1-3, with CNA support typically at 1:10
- 12-hour night shift schedule ), 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) based on staffing needs
- Travel nurses are prioritized for floating assignments and must demonstrate flexibility across units within scope of practice
- EPIC EMR system used
- Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
- Unit-specific equipment includes Arctic Sun, Hemosphere, Belmont rapid transfuser, and life flow devices
- Telemetry monitoring via hardwire monitors and travel tele boxes
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Critical care skills required including insulin, vasopressor, and sedation drip management
- Experience managing invasive lines (arterial and CVP) required
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
- Experience with chest tubes, ventilator management, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Provide direct critical care nursing to ICU patients including ventilator management and invasive line care
- RN responsible for phlebotomy duties, with limited additional phlebotomy support available in the hospital
- 24/7 support available from charge nurse, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist teams
- CNA support available for turning, feeding, ADLs, blood sugars, lab draws, and mobility assistance
- IV/VAT team available for support
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
- Navy scrub color required
- Free designated parking available for staff
- Unit culture emphasizes strong teamwork across day and night shifts
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Previous employees must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
